Types of Pearls

Renowned for their singular nature, surprising size and superior lustre, South Sea pearls are grown in the waters surrounding Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Myanmar.

The exotic color palette of Tahitian pearls – light grey, midnight black, pistachio, aubergine, blue – cements their status as some of the most unique pearls in the world. They are cultivated offshore of French Polynesia, the South Pacific, the Cook Islands, and Fiji.

Grown in freshwater mussels instead of saltwater oysters in China, Japan, and the United States, freshwater pearls offer anomalous shapes and pastel colors for attractive and affordable prices.

Keshi pearls, named after the Japanese word for poppy, spontaneously appear like seeds in the bodies of any mollusk as a result of the culturing process. Formed in bivalves found in the waters in and around  Japan, Australia, French Polynesia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, keshi pearls’ unusual shapes and sizes add striking twists to unique jewelry designs.
